The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has set up norms for maintaining the water quality standards in India. Drinking water sources must be tested at regular intervals to determine whether or not the water meets the established requirements, and if not, the level of contamination/unacceptability, as well as the necessary follow-up.

Testing Facilities:

The testing facilities are provided by BIS through its approved Laboratories. It also conducts product testing under established methodologies and as per ISO criteria that are updated regularly. It publishes and distributes a list of items that must be licensed and labeled to get the license. BIS also assists customers and consumer groups with information, paperwork, and other services.

It is also involved in the conception, implementation, and coordination of actions to maintain quality and improve goods. It supports national and worldwide standards, quality systems, and certification, as well as other related issues. BIS keeps disseminating the relevant knowledge as and when it is needed through numerous handbooks, guides, and other special publications.

Basic Requirements of a BIS water RO plant:

  • Certificate: If the entity is to be formed as a company (private, public, or one-person corporation), an incorporation certificate must be obtained. In the case of a partnership firm, a partnership deed is necessary for an LLP.
  • Registration is a small-scale industry: The government offers various small-scale subsidies, to avail which one needs to have the required certification.
  • Certificate of pollution control: The PCC must be obtained at the place of business in line with the appropriate state or government laws and regulations of the PCBC, which vary from state to state.
  • Registration of Trademark: It is recommended that the mineral water produced by the mineral water factory seek Trademark Registration, as there are many brands and comparable products currently on the market. This will help to identify the goods from rival brands and will also safeguard them from customer misunderstanding.
  • Other specific registrations: Apart from the aforementioned certificates, certain certificates are required to be obtained while carrying out the process of the Mineral water plant, such as a Chemist-degree and medical certificate, Microbiologist-degree and medical certificate, Medical certificate for workers, N.O.C. of Gram panchayat if required, and N.O.C. of Gram panchayat if required, depending on the applicable rules of the water to be manufactured.
  • Finally the all-important BIS registration: The majority of the mandatory compliances are with the BIS and its rules and regulations. The BIS certification for Mineral Water Plants is required by the government. In India, it is a legal need to have drinking water tested and certified in compliance with BIS standards and regulations.

Why Do We Need More BIS Water RO Plants?

According to a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) water quality study, the national capital stands at the bottom of the list. Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Lucknow were among the cities whose water samples were analyzed. The water quality test was failed by all of the cities. Mumbai is the only city where tap water samples fulfilled all of the requirements outlined in the Indian Standard, which is the current drinking water specification.

Thus we need more BIS water RO plants that can improve the quality of drinking water. Companies such as Haley premium water are a forerunner in this field providing reliable and premium quality drinking water
